No more Linux!
I am saying no to linux probably because I am a newbie to Linux and had some really irritating problems installing it.
The first the I thought of installing Fedora on my friend’s PC was a bad experience. I inserted the CD and started the steps to install the Fedora. The installation steps were too long, too many options (Grrr! So irritating). Uff! at last I did it the percentage started to count. Then suddenly an error showed up, I just ignored it and then another error showed up that said the installation cannot complete. That totally S**ked. After waiting so long you get and error. So we just opted out for the windows Xp. And OMG! what we found there were 2 partitions erased out. My friend shouted the hell out me, all his privates stuffs were erased. 1 partition was I knew going to be erased, but 2, was not what I expected.
After that incident I said no no to the Linux, at least fedora.
Then just yesterday I again looked for another Linux. This one was I got from a Tech Mag, called Dream Linux. I copied it to a CD and ran it. The interface was DOS style. I went to the exe file and saw a another screen with the QBasic theme. Don’t talk about the installation, becoz I couldnot understand anything of it. I just knew the language was not english or anyway chinese or devnagari. No hesitation to close the application. Then when the computer start the black magic showed up. Shit! my XP didn’t load at all. I tried and tried with the BIOS options but couldnot. The Dream Linux had been a bad dream. The only thing I could see my files was the DOS or another bootable LINUX. Thanks I had Ubuntu, the hasselfree till now as I have seen ( Just load it from the CD, interface like the windows). I did backup of necessary files from my OS partition and the went to Installl the Windows Xp. I could not believe what I saw, my OS partition was named unknown partition. Go to hell for the Dream Linux. I had to delete the partition and again create new one. Then the Xp installation went through. It just completed copying files and headed to restart. Again another surprise for me, the computer refused to go to the installation process saying “invalid partition”. What the F!
Now the Hard Disk might be under a desk waiting for maintenance.
So much long words from me and the conclusion is do not ever try to install a Linux, without an experienced guy with you. Anyway a bootable Ubuntu is great.
